Developers invited to pitch for Middlehaven Dock scheme revival

The Homes & Communities Agency has revived a £225m waterside leisure scheme in Middlesbrough and is advertising for a development partner.

The 80-acre site at Middlehaven Dock, adjacent to Middlesbrough town centre, is a mixed-use regeneration project where the Homes & Communities Agency (HCA) has been working in partnership with Middlesbrough Council, One North East and Tees Valley Regeneration. Architect Will Alsop has developed a masterplan for the site.

Quintain Estates was on board but dropped out in 2011.

The HCA has four cleared sites totalling nearly 11 acres that its wants developed, along with the former single storey marketing suite building.

The Listed Clock Tower, Dock basin, entrance channel to the River Tees, Dock gates and Temenos sculpture, which were referred to in the prior information notice, are in the process of potentially being transferred to Middlesbrough Borough Council and so are excluded from this sale.
