September start targeted for £1.5bn Coventry scheme

Developers of a £1.5bn development in Coventry are looking to start construction in September this year.

They have begun the procurement process for the first element, which is a £30m council office block.

Friargate Coventry LLP is planning to redevelop a 15-hectare site between Coventry railway station and the city centre.

The Friargate development scheme comprises 25 new buildings to provide 300,000m2 of building floorspace that would make up a new business quarter for Coventry. The masterplan has been designed by architect Allies & Morrison.

The first to be constructed will be a new office building for Coventry City Council, along with associated public realm landscape works. The contract notice for this is published in today’s Official Journal of the European Union. The client is looking to start construction at the end of September this year and complete by June 2016.

Friargate Coventry LLP is the development vehicle for Cannon Cannon Kirk, a Dublin-based property group.
