A controversial greenfield housing development in open Sussex countryside is to go ahead after finally securing planning permission.
Landowner Borde Hill Estate has secured approval to build 210 houses on Penland Farm, on the northern edge of Haywards Heath.
The 72.15 acre site is a mix of rolling arable farmland and ancient woodland on the fringe of the High Weald area of outstanding natural beauty and the Grade II* listed Borde Hill Parkland.
Following a public inquiry in October 2014, planning approval has now been granted despite strong local opposition.
