London construction industry training centre Building Lives looks to have won its fight for survival after raising £400,000 in donations in 50 days.

As previously reported, Building Lives has been at risk since learning in March that the Construction Industry Training Board was withdrawing funding because it discovered  that it did not meet CITB rules. [See our previous report here.]

Building Lives was set up in 2010 as a social enterprise by Lakehouse founder Steve Rawlings with more than £1m of his own money, specifically to give the young employed a useful start in life. It now has 10 academies in London.

The threat of closure generated industry-wide support and the required £400,000 target toprotect its immediate future has now been reached, with £50,000 coming from The Lighthouse Club.
