Cladding and building envelope specialist Lakesmere Group has opened a new metal fabrication manufacturing facility in Hampshire.

Lakesmere’s new Innovation Technology Centre is a dedicated production facility alongside its head office in Winchester. It will produce a range of roofing and cladding sheets in addition to bespoke fabrications, gutters and panels for use on a number of its own contracts across the UK.

Lakesmere is currently manufacturing products to support its design and installation work on the roofing element of the redevelopment of the Olympic Stadium and Tribeca Square, a new 23-storey residential development in the Elephant & Castle area of London.

Lakesmere said that expanding into metal fabrication manufacturing would increase its control over supply at a time when material and supplier costs are rising.

The new Winchester facility is in addition to its facility in Moira, Northern Ireland, acquired in December 2012 when it bought McMullen Architectural Systems out of administration. (See previous report here.)

The Moira plant specialises in the production of unitised glazing under the McMullen brand.

Lakesmere Group chief executive Mark Davey said: “Lakesmere has never been a company to stand still.  We are now fully operational at our manufacturing production facility at Winchester and from here we are able to produce a bespoke range of roofing and cladding sheets, fabrications, gutters and panels to support many of our contracts across the UK.”
