Architect/engineer BDP has become the first company to be assessed and certificated under BRE Global’s BIM level 2 Business Systems Certification Scheme.

This certification demonstrates that BDP’s London office has the policies and procedures required to deliver level 2 BIM in line with the government's strategy, meeting the requirements of PAS1192-2:2013 and the BS1192 pre-questionnaire document.

“Certification under the scheme saves time in tendering processes and puts businesses like BDP at the forefront of the BIM working environment,” said BRE Global director Martin Ganley.

BRE Global is the Building Research Establishment’s third-party approvals business.

BDP director of information and technology Alistair Kell said his firm was “delighted”.

He said: “This is a significant step along our BIM journey, both validating the investment and commitment we have made in redefining our processes to align with emerging BIM technologies whilst also providing a recognisable auditable standard to demonstrate our abilities externally.

“Our next step is to achieve Business Systems certification for the remainder of our studios and extend our employee capability through the BRE BIM AP accreditation scheme.”

As part of the certification process, BDP completed an online application form and submitted the required documents for review. After a desktop audit and telephone discussions, BRE Global conducted a site audit to review processes and procedures at BDP’s London office.

BDP has now been issued with certificate number 001.
