Former Laing O’Rourke director Steve Hollingshead has quit the Swansea Bay Tidal Lagoon project after less than a year in post to join civils contractor J Murphy & Sons as chief executive.
Steve Hollingshead takes over as chief executive of Murphy on 1st June 2015, taking over from interim boss Matthew Behan.
Mr Hollingshead was with O’Rourke for more than 20 years. As construction director in 2001 he played a key role in the acquisition of Laing Construction before being appointed managing director of Laing O’Rourke London and Southeast. In 2010 he moved to head Laing O’Rourke’s Australian business before returning to the UK in 2013. He joined Tidal Lagoon Power (TLP) as construction director in July 2014.
Murphy chairman Alastair Kerr said: “Steve joins Murphy at a very exciting time of dynamic change and growth. His experience will be instrumental in growing Murphy’s activities both in the UK and overseas.”
