BAM bags £20m Teesside University deal

BAM has been selected to build a new teaching block in the centre of Teesside University’s campus in Middlesbrough.

The £20m project includes extensive landscaping to improve the campus.

Teesside University chief operating officer Malcolm Page said that BAM was chosen “because of their innovative approach to the project which offered a top class solution to delivering our vision along with a strong emphasis on value for money”.

Work will begin on construction in April. The project will also be used as a live example of building information modelling (BIM) for study groups.

BAM project manager Mark Sanderson said: “It is not often you get to make such an impact on a university campus and creating this flagship building for Teesside will be a huge highlight of many of our personal careers.”
