Contractors have been invited to bid for the estimated £70m contract to build a new 40,000-seater stadium at Casement Park in west Belfast.

Work on the stadium for the Ulster Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) is expected to take 21 months and be completed by the end of 2015.  It will be home to hurling and Gaelic football in Northern Ireland.

The new stadium is being designed by Populous, which also designed the London 2012 Olympic Stadium. Consulting engineer is Mott MacDonald.

Across the city, a £26m project to increase the capacity of the Irish Football Association’s Windsor Park stadium from 12,000 to 18,000 is also planned.
